Back to my usual methods ...
I've been working on free-motion quilting the piece in the previous post. It was a failure and I'm now working on a different technique. What happened was that all of the pieces de-fused, edges frayed, things moved. Yuk. I'm going to either try my usual reverse-applique technique, or putting all the pieces under a layer of tulle and then quilting. I like the piece, so I'm going to try to recreate it. Watch this space for further results :-)

second try.
rather than covering the whole piece with tulle and stitching, why not try a water soluble stabilizer like Solvy or Aquafilm? Pin in place (or spray baste), do the stitching, then gently tear away the stabilizer. Dissolve what remains of it with a spritzer or sponge if you don't want to immerse the piece in water.
The image is worth saving!
