The XML Princess and the Pea

This is a geek post, so consider yourself forwarned. I recently returned from the XML 2005 conference - this year held in Atlanta, Georgia. For the first time in a long time I was able to attend the closing keynote dinner, and was sitting next to a good friend of mine (who also happens to be a cross-stitcher and organizes the XML Artwork exhibition each year), Eve Maler. David Megginson was the keynote speaker. Part of his talk focused on how XML has continually been buried further and further under the covers. At one point David announced that one would have to be an XML Princess in order to truly know that XML was behind the scenes. At that point Eve looked at me and said,

"That's us!"

Hopefully the XML Artwork exhibition will continue - and I'll have a piece ready and waiting!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! While we're waiting for our friends to arrive, I thought I'd share a few pictures with you...

A selection of cheeses and olives

Heather and Steve went shopping this morning and found this bottle of "Three Blind Moose" wine. Of course, they couldn't resist. I'll report on what it actually tasted like later :-)

The flowers

And the snow!

And best of all, Heather came home from her European adventure early and was home for Thanksgiving!
