I've
loved to create with my hands since I was a little girl; learning
to knit, crochet, and embroider at my mother's knee. As I grew
older, we painted together, sharing the joy to be found in bringing
one's vision to life. Once I was on my own, I continued to explore
other creative outlets primitive folk art, various forms
of needlework, calligraphy, and quilting. And while all of those
other endeavors have faded in and out over the years, quilting
has remained a constant in my life. Maybe it's the ever-evolving
shape of the medium that holds my interest from traditionally-pieced
blocks and intricate Baltimore Album style applique all done by
hand, to crazy patchwork with all of the wonderful embellishment
techniques, to the joy of free-motion embroidery and quilting,
machine applique, and the wealth of surface design techniques
that I'm only beginning to explore. Whatever its attraction, I
can't resist fabric whether it's cotton or silk, commercial
or hand-dyed. And beads seed beads, rondelles, bugles,
and lampwork. And threads for stitching, couching or weaving.
Silk ribbons. Foils, paints, and stamps.
Take
your time and look around. Enjoy your stay. In the meantime, I'll
be creating new works, exploring new techniques, and adding it
here for your enjoyment, and, maybe just a hint of inspiration.
