In
August of 2001, my husband and daughter purchased the 30' Friendship
Sloop, "Coast O' Maine," as a restoration project. With
the intent of moving her from her then-present location in a field
in Barrington, NH to our property, the boat hauler arrived and
made the trek across the state. When he arrived at our house,
he was unable to navigate the turns, and the boat was relegated
to another field, a couple of miles down the road from our house.
All fall and winter my husband planned and schemed, figuring out
just how we were going to get Coast O' Maine on our own little
piece of land. With the scheme in place, the rains came, and the
plan was foiled until August of 2002, when she finally arrived
home.
The
August quiltpage shows the Coast O' Maine superimposed on the
Maine Coast well, Penobscot Bay in actuality, where it
is our hope that she will, one day, sail again.
